Ubisoft said that three of the five planets in Star Wars Outlaws can be crossed in four or five minutes while riding a speeder bike, which we have seen in more than one demo of the game.
Speaking to IGN as part of a long interview, creative director Julian Gerety confirmed that the planets – Tatooine and the moon Toshara, Akiva, Kijimi and Cantonica – will be the size of two or three regions in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. He explained that the planet Toshara is very close in size to Akiva and Tataoine, and also mentioned that the planet Tatooine may be slightly larger.
When then asked how long it would take heroine Kay Vess to ride from one end of the Tosharra to the other on her speeder bike, Gerety gave the answer that it would take between four or five minutes, which would seem to apply to Akiva and Tatooine as well since they are the same size.
Ubisoft said it will take a quality over quantity approach with Star Wars Outlaws. Gerrity said:
“When we started thinking about size, it wasn't about the size of the planets, it was about how long it would take to pass them with speed, so we don't want things to be big just for the sake of being big. We need to make it fun, always suggesting different activities. So, traversing the entire planet should feel like a journey.”
Star Wars Outlaws will arrive on August 27, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series With the $70 Basic Edition as well as the $110 Gold Edition, which comes with three-day early access along with the Season Pass.
